STOPPING BY THE ROADSIDE ON A SUNNY AFTERNOON
It was a long line and a red light and a sleeping bag of blinkers.
I ditched the usual zombie-driver sink we too often dump our thoughts into, and grabbed the tiny black monolith bearing the lonely glass eye.
We take pictures all the time. Some moving, some still. Always with our eyes, our minds, our omniscient dreams. Most forgotten, only to be re-shopped and reeled-up against the backs of our pillows by the mad narrators of our unconscious driving.
The world stretches across and behind and above and below us, farther and farther, and deeper and deeper, the faster and more automatic we drive.
It was a long line and a red light and I looked right and clicked swift.
Time shuttered its blinkers.
